Where can I apply for Section 8? If you are a resident of Putnam County and would like assistance in making monthly rental payments to your landlord you may apply to the Section 8 Program of Putnam County. Applications may be printed from the Program's tab above, or you may pick up an application at our office located at 309 E. Franklin Street, Greencastle, IN 46135. 


Where can I apply for Northview Apartments? If you are looking for a subsidized apartment within Putnam County, IN you may apply for a unit at Northview Apartments, located at the corner of Houlk Road and Arlington Street, in Greencastle, IN. You are not required to be a resident of Putnam County, IN in order to qualify for a unit at Northview Apartments. Applications may be printed from the Program's tab above, or you may pick up an application at our office located at 309 E. Franklin Street, Greencastle, IN 46135. 


How long is the waiting list for the Housing Choice Voucher Program? The waiting list for the Section 8 Program for Putnam County residents is currently running approximately 12 months.


How long is the waiting list for Northview Apartments? The waiting list for Northview Apartments changes on a monthly basis. A specific date or length of time you may be on the waiting list is unknown given that tenants often stay from one month to 15 years at our complex. 


How will you reach me once my name comes to the top of the list for Section 8 or Northview Apartments? It is very important that you keep your address up to date with our office because we contact those at the top of the waiting list via first class mail. If we do not have your current address and an invitation letter is returned from the postmaster, your name is automatically removed from the waiting list. We do not make telephone calls to applicants, we rely on first class mail to contact those at the top of the waiting list. 


Can you tell me how much my rent will be when I apply? We are unable to inform you at the time of application submission how much your monthly rent will be. There are several factors that go into determining your annual income, how much your utility allowance will be and we are unable to tell you how much your landlord can charge you. We are only able to inform you that you are permitted to pay no more than 30% of your income level. 


How do I know where I am on the waiting list? You will need to contact our office to determine where you are on the waiting list. Please remember to have basic information available upon this call, we will need to verify your information prior to telling you where you are on the waiting list.
